10 Things You (Probably) Don’t Know about FGDexpo2009
1. Whats FGDexpo means actually ?
Seems like many people are still asking what FGD actually means on FGDexpo2009. Is it Focus Group Discussion ? Nope, … According to Mas Rian ‘Dyandra’ as the event organizer, at the beginning the name of FGDexpo was taken from FGD (Forum Grafika Digital) Forum., a graphic community that’s been behind the whole event. But as time goes on, FGDexpo has become a brand of its own. Anyway, you don’t have to worry about what it actually means, It could mean Forum Gaul Deh ? or you could just call it FGDexpo2009.
2. FGD Expo 2009 or FGDexpo2009?
Still talking about the name. Apparently we still have a mishap about how to write the name. Including me myself, lol. Some people wrote “FGD Expo 2009″, “FGDexpo 2009″, and theres also a “FGDexpo2009″. Which one is the correct one ? Thanks to our friend Mas Rian ‘Dyandra’, he clarify that the correct one is “FGDexpo2009″ (all adjointed without spacing). Allright, so now we know.
3. FGDexpo account on Facebook
Ofcourse, as a cool event, FGDexpo2009 has an account on facebook that’s been used to interact with lots of people. But suddenly the official account on facebook (www.facebook.com/FGDexpo) are unable to accessed. Since the 4th of July 2009 (hopefully nothing related to the US Indepence Anniversary Day, lol). Anyway, that’s too bad, because last time we checked, they have like almost 1900 or more friends. Some says that the account was disabled by Facebook because it has too many activities lol, talk about being popular.
Thankfully they still have another FGDexpo2009 account, the FGDexpo Newsroom. Other than that, they have also setup the official facebook page for FGDexpo2009. For all of you who wants to confirm your attendance of the event you can go straight to Event of FGDexpo2009 “Experiencing Creative Industry”, or join the discussion on the Group of FGDexpo2009 “Experiencing Creative Industry”. Well, lets hope the noise we made on facebook wont get us into any trouble with facebook. Wouldnt want to dissappoint our die-hard fans.
4. The first mascot of FGDexpo
One of the highlight of this year FGDexpo is the appereance of the first FGDexpo ever. And to make things more interesting, we have THREE mascots. Talk about entering with a bang. FYI, they don’t have any mascot for the previous FGDexpo. And now they have these awesome mascots designed by Mendiola of the kamus brand fame. So, if you do catch them on the event, don’t forget to take your picture together and tag the mascot along when you upload your pictures on facebook.
These cute and cuddly mascots are Packy, Printy and Publy. Each of them represent the packaging, printing, and publishing industries.
5. Tickets !
Ok, Theres been a confusion about the entry ticket fee to the FGDexpo2009. Some says that its Rp. 25.000,-, some says its free. After I check with a very reliable source, currently they have a Rp.20.000,- ticket that can be used for the whole 4 days event. Its quite a bargain if I may say.
6. Klenik Grafika (Graphycs Mysticysm)
Don’t know the correct English translation for Klenik Grafika, but Graphics Mysticysm should give you the picture of whats about the come. If we heard what the name sounds like, its quite scary because it involved all the magic and voo doo stuff. Will we have a magician / wizard / witch / cleric / whatever on the FGDexpo2009 ? Apparently yes ! But don’t worry, because all the wizard that will shows up on the Klenik grafika are all wizards on their fields (design, packaging, printing, publishing, etc) that will give some enlightment about the industry.
Yep, Klenik Grafika is actually a seminar entitled “All about Lithography Printing” that will be held on the 2nd day (31 July 2009) of FGDexpo2009. They say that you don’t have to sacrifice anything to attend the event, you just have to contact the event organizer and prepare some money. But, apparently the dress code for the attendee is all black. Woot !
7. Creative Media Week 2009
FGDexpo is not your ordinary exhibition show. Various exciting events are available throughout the event. One of them is Creative Media Week 2009 that will present Voice Print and they have so many talkshows / presentation / workshops from various communities like FreSh, INS.IDE, Pecha Kucha Jakarta, TEDx Jakarta, and VERSUS: Saya & Indonesia. Whew, this is some big gathering.
Don’t forget, the event of Creative Media Week will be centered on Cendrawasih Room 3, JCC, Jakarta. For more infos, just check on their website.
8. Digital Marketing & Advertising Conference
This is one of the highlighted events on FGDexpo2009. For those of you crazy about marketing and advertising, you should book your place right now. Bubu Awards V.06 will be held on Assembly Hall, JCC, Jakarta. Many exciting speakers will be there, including from Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Yahoo! Southeast Asia. Rumour has it that some guy from youtube and google will also be there.
And btw, during the event, they will also announce the winner of Bubu Awards V.06. Psst, the electrifying ‘The Changcuters’ will perform at the event to the rocking crowds !
9. 100% Indonesia Hebat Design Celebration
This is a three day seminar (30 July – 1 August 2009) that’s being held by ADGI on FGDexpo2009. The best thing about the seminar is the speakers. They have so many exciting speakers this year. At least 27 speakers from the creative industry are scheduled to be present on the event. Rarely you can find big names such as Andi S Boediman, Benny – Mice, Davy Linggar, Irvan A. Noeman, Joko Anwar, Leo Theosabrata, Peter Says, Sakti Makki, Wahyu Aditya, Yusca Ismail in the same event, giving inspiring presentation.
10. It’s an International Scale Event
Hey, not only we have high school and college students from around the country, we would also be having some guests from the Netherlands, Polands, and China. They are participants of the AIESEC University of Indonesia that wants to learnt about good practice of creative industry in Indonesia. Don’t know whats going to happen when they come to the FGDexpo2009 and meet the Klenik Grafika event
